Very disappointed in this school. Having 5 children from college down to elementary school this was the most disappointing school I have ever dealt with. There are more poor teachers just there for a paycheck then teachers who care. I have waited 3 weeks for a teacher to return a phone call and some

While the main principle is great and one of the other assistant principles is a nice man and fair as well, the only female asst principle is an awful person who I truly believe could care less about anybody or anything except her paycheck. This school gets a D- from me. I am just thankful my kids wont be going there again. Read less

My daughter is in her 8th grade year at WHMS, we will be so sad to see her leave. What a great learning experience, and not just in the classroom. A++ SCHOOL!! For parents w/ IEP students, no school is better than West Hernando. After years of generic goals on IEPs and some violence at DS Parrott, we enrolled our daughter at West. Very disapointed in this school. They have poor conflict resolution and seem to adhere to double standards. My childs IEP is routinely overlooked. He does have a few good teachers but they are overwhelmed with approx. 34 students in the classroom. I will seriously look elsewhere for educational instruction.

* In 2008-2009 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 8 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 11 in science. The FCAT Writing results are displayed separately on GreatSchools profiles. The FCAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.
