It is one of few schools in Delaware that is apart of the Vision 2015 (a collaborative effort by education, government, business and civic leaders throughout Delaware). Kuumba is one of the few schools in the country to implement in 2008 the innovative Singapore Math system which has proven to elevate students in math scores. My child is currently enrolled at Kuumba. He will be attending the second grade in the fall. I love this school and highly recommend it to anyone who has an elementary aged student! They have wonderful extra curricular activities for the students. Also, they are an excellent academic school!

Using the Kwaanza principles as a foundation, and with integration of the arts into the academic curriculum, the school environment is very nurturing of kids with varying abilities. Class sizes are small (13 in her fifth grade class!), allowing lots of individual attention. As the European-american mother of a biracial daughter, I welcomed this opportunity for her to be immersed in a part of her heritage that I cannot provide her out of my own experience. Enrolling my child into Kuumba Academy Charter School is the best thing that I could have done. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
