... Read more deep support with smaller staff to student ratios and tutorial period built into schedules for previewing curriculum and content and remediation. Sussex Central also has many opportunities for students to get back on track to graduate if they have faced attendance and discipline issues preventing them from earning the maximum amount of credits towards matriculation in previous years. Sussex central also houses the largest English Language Learners program in the county to help teenage students who are new to the country work towards a high school diploma and build basic skills needed in today's workforce. The school has a firm but fair discipline policy to ensure that classrooms and school environment are conducive to learning, free from the distractions linked to student misbehavior. Read less

My school is outstanding in the way that the teachers and staff try their hardest to educate the future of our society. The only problem I have is that some policies are too strict and learning isn't as rigorous as I need. I have been accepted into the IB Program this year that they have been running

* In 2008-2009 Delaware used the Delaware Student Testing Program (DSTP) to test students in reading and math in grades 2 through 10, in writing in grades 3 through 10, and in science and social studies in grades 4, 6, 8 and 11. Only the scores for reading and math in grades 2 through 10, writing in grades 3 though 10, and science in grades 8 and 11 are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The DSTP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Delaware. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
