Hardy has been such a pleasant surprise! Their academics are rigorous, their sports programs are surprisingly wonderful, the teachers are communicative and challenging the kids. I go to Hardy and it is an excellent school. I have been going there for three years and this is my last year. I will truly miss Hardy when I am promoted. The teachers are very great and helpful. I truly love Hardy. Going to Hardy makes me feel so proud.

I have two daughters in Hardy MS, and for the most part, it has been a terrific academic and social experience. ... Read more prepared when they enter Hardy, but the program works hard to bring them up to and beyond grade level. All but the most gifted students are challenged as well, and there are plenty of opportunities for 'stretching' their leadership. Until the renovated building opens for the 2008/9 school year, the facilities are mediocre, but safe. There are insufficient extra-curricular activities, but blame that on DC funding. Discipline is always a challenge with middle-schoolers, but Mr. Pope uses a strict (some might say heavy) hand in encouraging the kids to become responsible for themselves and their behavior. Each student has a choice of doing band or chorus.It has a variety of different sports such as football, vollyball, baseball, basketball, and track. We have a play each year and this past year we performed The Wiz. Also each student gets a choice of either learning French or Spanish. Hardy Middle school is a great place to learn. Read less

There is also many events throughout the school year which give the student a opportunity to showcase their newly found talents. Theatrical arts is not a main course at Hardy, but there is an annual spring musical performed. Try outs are held during the winter months after school for all who are interested. There is also many extracurricular activities to chose from, such as Basketball, football, and volleyball for males and females. * In 2008-2009 Washington, D.C. used the District of Columbia Comprehensive Assessment System (DC-CAS) to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
