I graduated from ST. Mary School in 2007. I loved my nine years there, but the only problem was I didn't go to Holy Cross or Sacred Heart. I went to Southington High School. That school has over 2200 students in it. I felt that SMS prepared you for a small high school. We I take tests at SHS the
... Read more teachers will not give you redos and will not void out tests, because everyone failed. SMS did and even though the teachers did that I still am crazy about the school. I found that from going from SMS and going to SHS was a huge jump, I think SMS can prepare their students for high school by treating them as if they are in high school. Read less

St Mary's School is definitely focused on academics and discipline as they will tell you from the start. Sometimes they are rigid with the rules but that is the philosophy afterall. They are open to fostering a partnership between the faculty, parent and student. You will feel heard. I agree

Read more with another reviewer in that they could do more with extra curricular activites but then again this is not new and if you want more in this area you can enroll your child in community activites or send them to a public school, who simply have the reources to do more. They school is all about the student having a positive experience and learning and in my experience their intentions are in the right place. For the most part the faculty is sharp, and interested in making learning a good experience for the children. Read less

SMS has a large enrollment because it is an excellent school. It also has caring, hardworking, and dedicated teachers who have been there for a long time because they are happy teaching in such a wonderful environment. The staff and the principals are the best.The school is very well kept up and clean.
... Read more They offer many things ...music, art, theater, and sports. My two children are students at SMS and are receiving an excellent education. As far as field trips, my children have been on many field trips although I do not consider field trips to be a priority. SMS is what I consider to be a great school and I highly recommend it to every parent out there. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
