Read what parents are saying about Antelope Valley Adventist SchoolThis school is supposed to be a Christian school, but it does not demonstrate Love. (They say they love you but love is an action word) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. They did not display this to my child with ADHD. Although I offered support and requested that her behavioral therapist be able to come in to work with her. The entire semester was over when I was finally told that she could come in. By that time the semester was over, tge principal had no more patience for my daughter. They were irritable, keeping record of wrong. My daughter endured bullying but the Principal discounted my concerns and ignored my calls and texts. I complained that my child was being bullied. The principal said that she doesn't consider kids taking her lotion and throwing it around, kids yelling in her fac e, and putting their bare hands in her food taking it without permission, to be bullying. If my daughter said anything that was not nice she was in big trouble. If she would have done the same thing to them, it would be a big problem. My daughter left there emotionally, and mentally scarred. I took my daughter out because things were not fair because she was who she is. She was not favored at that school. (See demographics.) My daughter is african american. God shows Mercy and Grace but AVAS does not. My daughter is now being home schooled in a Christian Academy and is severely academically behind. She is in 6th grade, 2nd semester but AVAS has not taught her what her new school learned the 1st day of 1st semester. Very Disappointing
Posted by a parent on 1/21/2023Bad curriculum, substitutes are family members of the principal and kids. Homeless camp next door , they are taught behind their grade (ex 7th grade being taught 5th grade stuff) principle makes bad choices they must have deleted my review but find another Christian school
Posted by a parent on 12/10/2022I have two kids going in this school. I love the school and I want my kids to have a Christian base learning school. The staff and all the teachers are very caring and kind, they treat all the kids as their own. The school itself is secured . No school is perfect but what I can say, my kids they all grown to be a God fearing , loving and respectful and academically they are not far behind, they could compete with other school. Right now with the leadership of Mrs. Macias the principal you could expect a better learning and growth spiritually and academically.
Posted by a parent on 7/30/2022Definite buyer's remorse with this school. They do well in selling you on what SHOULD occur on campus but what you get is a different story. My daughter is in 4th grade and this hands down has been the worst school year for her. Math is taught on a computer and the children are expected to learn without having been taught or introduced concepts. There's no structure or consistency in assignments. She's come home crying many times stressed out over the fact that her teacher isn't clear in explaining what is required in the assignments. Field trips are sprung on you at the last minute, and are unreasonably expensive. We're talking hundreds of dollars. The students in her class aren't passing standardized exams and it's a joke. They have excellent security but academically they are a sham.
Posted by a parent on 4/20/2022There is a very positive feel on campus this year. My children are all challenged in their respective classrooms. I am very happy that my oldest will be well prepared for high school and beyond.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so happy there is a Montessori school in the AV area. It is a beautifull teaching method. It keeps the Children engaged and eager to learn. They are creating a respect for eachother as well as a healthy learning environment. They are always happy to go to school and are waving hello and goodbye to their friends as we go home. They are growing into these lovely little responsible young beings, and with a love for learning! The teachers are all great, they are very kind, calm and loving to the children. The school is always open to any questions you might have. They are flexibel and you feel as a part of the family so to speak. I would suggest to go for an observation, it's amazing to see a montessori classroom 'at work'.Parent Review9y ago - Lancaster Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff is extremely biased with their own children compared to the families that pay to attend. Staff children cause numerous problems and bully and harass other students but the children that get in trouble are the ones that try to defend themselves. The elementary principal is pretty and stuck on herself, she looks down her nose at others. They come across like they care when you first apply but that quickly goes away. The curriculum is lower learning and the children are not challenged academically. The school puts more effort into having your child fundraise for them as they are money hungry.Parent Review2mo ago - Grace Lutheran Elementary School

It is nice to be at a school were the teachers not only love teaching there, several of the teachers own children attend there! This is really important to me as a parent to know the teachers have faith in the school.I am writing this review because we just got through a tough time with COVID and we all had to do distance learning. My son is in junior high at Grace. My husband and I are extremely happy with the distance learning our son received. The three teachers in junior high, did an outstanding job transitioning from in the classroom to computer learning. The teachers used zoom and everyday the teachers had classes and all of the kids were in attendance. The Principal vowed to the parents that at the end of the school year our children would be ready to promote to the next grade and would be ready. The teachers did just that. My son received the same lessons he would have if he was in class. It is reasonable for me to say some modifications took place, but my son did not miss a beat. Besides his core classes, my son still had art class and physical education. Books were still read, tests were taken, lessons done etc. At no time did I have to do any teaching!!! The teachers did all of the teaching and when my son had questions, the teachers had available hours for either email questions or zoom meeting for help or tutoring. As with normal school, my son was held accountable for his work etc. It takes extraordinary teachers to accomplish what these teachers did. My son ended the year happy and he felt accomplished. His grades reflected his hard work and made him proud he could still do well even under these unusual circumstances. We are hopeful we can go back to class in the fall. Our principal and our church school board are working that out this summer. We look forward to seAs a parent I look to a school to accomplish three basic things; to educate my child both academically and spiritually, keep him safe and let him have fun. Grace does all of this and well. All of the teachers, the principal and the staff are a pleasure to work with. Everyone gives 100% for our children. We love being a part of this family!Parent Review3y ago
