Read what parents are saying about Saint Mary's College High SchoolMolinelli creates a fake persona of the school only putting scholarly and students up to her standards in the front of magazines, announcements and tours. She disregards students with needs and throws them to the side. I would not trust this school to help your student if they have special needs. Might want to look at Bishop O'dowd or Salesian.
Posted by a parent on 4/12/2021Of all the school decisions we have made over the years for our two daughters, Saint Mary's was by far our best decision. If you have a social and hard working young person who would benefit from a mid-size high school that doesn't let kids fall through the cracks...Saint Mary's is a terrific choice. Our oldest applied to 18 colleges and got accepted to 15 of them - she's off to a top school and we are confident that she is prepared for its rigors. Our youngest has blossomed at Saint Mary's and is on a similar trajectory. No school is perfect...but Saint Mary's is close.
Posted by a parent on 7/30/2020It's all about what you expect and what you want to get out of it. If you truly put yourself into it, Saint Mary's is a great place to grow as a person first and foremost. Make the effort to change the school and that change will come.
Posted by a student on 6/18/2020We have had a very bad experience with the administration they don't care if your kid is going through hardships very cruel and uproffesional administration. Awful science department some of these teachers don't have teacher credentials and they don't even know how to grade kids some of these teachers not all but they can ruin your life if they don't like you. Thats why i say this is unprofessional school by the admin they prefer to keep awful teachers then caring kind kids. Be ware send your kids to Odowd they are more organized, proffesional and caring.
Posted by a parent on 6/2/2017Wow, I am in complete awe of some of these negative comments! I am a current alumnus and let tell you, I have been BLESSED to have to this beautiful school. Absolutely caring and smart teachers, friendly factually, and best of all, the close community. Education here is challenging and I feel that I am incredibly well equipped for college. To the person who mentioned that Saint Mary's students do not get into selective colleges, let me provide you with some of the ones MANY (not just one or two) our panthers will be attending: Berkeley, Davis, UCLA, Princeton, NYU, BU, Stanford- also, of whom also got accepted to MANY other good schools. Let me tell you this, though, if you are looking at the "schools that will send your kids to America's top 20 colleges," don't forget, your students own input and effort are what gets him into those schools in the first place. Thank you. By the way, visit our beautiful campus if you have the chance, a lot of the information i provided can be accessed in our library.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had to withdraw our son from Berkeley Rose Waldorf, which is, as you can imagine, a heartbreaking experience for any parent and child. Our experience was atypical I think of BRW in that it was a negative experience, but for what it's worth our son is also atypical: he's truly bilingual but his Spanish is better than his English and he has typically Mexican features. Our son never "fit in" so it's hard to know where to begin. I love the Waldorf principles, but unfortunately for our family we got an unskilled teacher, and my criticism of BRW is that if we had not initiated an additional conference (beyond the standard midterm conference--which was positive), we never would have discovered that our son was being isolated because of his behavior. Our second criticism is What mechanisms are in place to help instructors who don't know what to do? Our son was being isolated every day. Can the instructor ask for help? The instructor told us "Your son needs to learn how to enter into play." But if your child is different, is it possible that the door to "enter into play" is locked--or at least difficult to open? What the instructor described to us was aggressive behavior we didn't see exhibited outside of his BRW class. But if a door is locked, what do yo do? Stand outside politely and wait--or if you're a 4-yr-old, do you start tackling people? I don't wish to air personal grievances here. We couldn't find a home for our son at BRW. My wife had even been volunteering there (she is in Waldorf training), and I am a teacher myself. We would have loved to have found a home in BRW--a school that ostensibly values inclusion and diversity--and in which our son would have been welcomed. I like the community at BRW--the other parents were wonderful in our limited interactions--and I appreciated the administration when, for our son's emotional well-being (our fear of him being stigmaticized), we had to withdraw him. My criticism of BRW is that the Waldorf training should not stand in as a panacea for common sense commitment to inclusion and diversity. Our older daughter went to a local co-op and what happened to our son would have never happened there because there was a genuine commitment to each child as an individual.Other Review2y ago - Berkeley Rose Waldorf School
