Students here can accomplish anything they set their minds too. The graduating class of 2008, which consisted of about 65, had 6 students accepted to UC Berkeley, 10 to UCLA, 1 Harvard, and many other universities. This may be a highschool in which a student can graduate with a AA and HS diploma but there are a good portion of students who do not achieve this. Many students loiter around the comunity college(CC) campus and for two hours in the morning (since school starts at 10 am) wasting valuable education time.
... Read more The language courses are all offered through the CC and if the parent does not have a WIDE open schedule the childs choices become very limited. This also applies for higher level math courses, english courses & for that matter the courses necessary for the child to receive their AA. The parents role is very important & the child depends on strong involvement when the scheduling of CC courses are involved; my daughter took many afternoon classes that ended at 9:15pm, sat. classes, & summer classes. Harbor Teacher Prep is a great school for students who can be motivated (either by their parents or the educators at Harbor Prep). Read more for her junior year I was surprised to see parents whose children had attended the schools Summer Bridge Program checking their children out because they had decided that the program was too strenuous. I would urge any parent to give HTPA a chance to help their children excel now and in the future. HTPA does its best to give your child every available tool to succeed. As A Graduate from HTPA. (Harbor teacher Preparation academy) I have to say that while some of the students are not quite fond of the some members in the faculty as well as the principle they are all very dedicated. All of the teachers or at least the ones that i had were very dedicated to their work.
... Read more The Principle, Mattie Adams has a good plan that is applied but the atmosphere isnt really that of a normal high school. Its to isolated from the rest of the campus and with such a small amount of students, school events are not as active as you may expect. Read less

The quality of programs offered in this high school is of excellent caliber. The college atmosphere provides a stimulating school. There isnt much racial diversity with most studnets coming from hispanic or African American backgrounds.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
