I am very disappointed and frustrated with most the staff and especially counseling at RBVH! I do not recommend this school. Students who live in this area are better off going to a private school or moving to different district.

My son is in his second year at RBV. I find the teaching staff and counselors very formal and defensive. Rather than the honors courses being enriching and inspiring, it is more like a work load that is unsurmountable. The tutoring sessions offered are not available to student athletes, and they are

If your student is taking advantage of the Honors and advanced placement classes, you couldn't have a better school. The teachers are excellent and they are pushing the kids to their highest levels.

Rancho is grossly overcrowded. 3500 kids in a school built for 1800. Two tier academic system, AP, Honors and IP.which the school stresses and the regular classes which are for English Learners and the less gifted or motivated.No vocational training. My child was an AP/IB student at Rancho and received full academic scholarship to a UC & graduated with 2 B.S. degrees, Magna Cum Laude; was pursued by Yale, Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, Cal Tech to continue education with Ph.D. in chemistry, again on full fellowship. RBV is beyond a doubt the best- a variety of classes, great teachers, enrichment programs and enthusiastic students. Sure the school is overcrowded, but you work with what you have, and it has far fewer problems with drugs and gangs than its counterpart. It also has an 8 of 10 in school ratings which

Where to begin, The school was too overcrowded, it had twice as many kids as the school was built and designed for. The counselors were never available we were only able to contact her assistant. There is no follow up available for parents, i.e., mygradebook or Aeires. The parent involvement is minimal

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
Gifted and Talented
A school system may identify 10% to 15% or more of its student population as gifted and talented. A brief description of each area of giftedness or talent as defined by the Office of Gifted and Talented:

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
