I am also concerned about the communication block between the new principal and the parents. I have a child in Kindergarten at Hannalei and I don't feel that my child is dismissed safely. Teachers dismiss the children outside the school gates and act as though they monitor who the child are picked
... Read more up by, but the fact of the matter is they only see who the first 2 or 3 children are picked up by ,but the rest run out like a cattle stampede. There is no way to make sure all children go to the right individual picking them up. Parents voiced their concern when school started and the principal has completely ignored us. She states the the teachers are safely handing over children to the right person, but it is not happening at all! I don't see why they don't open the gate right next to the Kindergarten building. I submitted 3 stars b/c of principal goznell. She refuses to consider parental suggestion, has taken our school out of being a 'Love and Logic' school, has lied to me, brushes off students, raises her voice at very young children when reprimanding them (K-2), overuses the loudspeaker and interrupts classes,
... Read more and pushes her 'new' agenda.However, our PTA is outstanding, our staff in motivated to teach, not just take a check for being 'babysitters'.And, our students rock! Read less

I'm a very concerned parent who is not happy with the lack of communication not given to staff or parents by the new prinical. Everything (rules, staff duties, etc.) was changed and no information or notice was given. The principal does not walk the school to meet children. I am very concerned for the

I see a lot of great reviews and overall I feel this maybe a school that runs well. My only concern is the lack of communication I receive as a parent. I have had to contact the teachers to get information each year, one year even told that only one parent was allowed to communicate with the teacher.
... Read more My frustration also includes having to remind someone how to contact me when it has not changed since my child started attending. I realize I am the parent and it is my responsibility but teachers have chosen this path and should be more flexible regardless of family structure. Read less

We have been at Hannalei from the beginning. The staff at Hannalei is outstanding. They act as a well oiled machine. The office staff, principal and teachers are always smiling and greeting both parents and children by their first names. The PTA provides great programs for the children and have wonderful
... Read more events to pull families together. As for the teaching abilities, both my children have always scored in the advanced level on the STARS tests. In fact, my son received 100 percent in every catagory. That tells me his teacher taught him everything he needed to know! I would highly recommend this school. Read less

I have a 4th and 5th grader that are new to Hannalei this year. Both of my children have had to deal with bulling by there peers and as of yet I have not been informed of a program at Hannalei that is in place to teach the students how to be respectful to each other. Changes need to be made and programs

My children just started K and 1st grade at Hannalei. I personally feel that their teachers are doing a great job teaching. We do homework every night and the kids enjoy doing it.

Hannalei is a very new school with a caring Principal and some wonderful teachers. Most parents are willing to help and the PTA seems strong. I thik the environment is great.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
