My son is about to go into first grade and has had a few minor issues including a speech delay. Right hand left hand confusion due to being left handed and being forced to use his right hand sometime during his 2 yrs in preschool and also a minor attention problem. He has had a wonderful team helping
... Read more him and getting him back on track. They have been such an encouragement to both him and to my husband and I. He is right back to where he should be in such a short time and they have made him go from being hesitant and nervous about school to loving every minute. What a blessing this staff has been. If this school scores low at all it is not due to the staff I have encountered. I noticed some kids have a low english vocabulary and parents need to be more involved. Read less

Excellent school. We just relocated to the area and started our 3rd greater. Amazing music program for violin, viola and cello. Third grade teacher is a gem, teaching the students how to practice metacognition - thinking about their thinking. Strong parent support from a core group of parents. Very diverse.

I have three kids at Truckee Elementary. The oldest is in 5th grade and started her schooling here at Truckee Elementary. I could not be happier. The teachers are great - both academically and personally. My children have all excelled academically and love school! Thanks to all the teachers at TE!

As a parent I agree. Way too much tolerance from the top down and a big incident waiting to happen. We are leaving this year also, gladly. I wish more parents read this site before sending vulnerable children!

As a current parent, I am concerned that the school has way too much tolerance for aggresive behavior. Where is the supervision? And when the administators are aware, they do almost nothing about it! ... Read more things about it - the after school programs are great and there are some great teachers and parents. Also, nothing provided the kids who showed advancement beyond what average student in class was doing. Will say Kindergarten was exceptional. Read less

... Read more scores this bad, I really feel that their time would be more wisely spent on reading, writing and arithmatic rather than hitting the slopes. I must say that there are some outstanding teachers there as well and I believe that alot can be learned from these few. You get your best work out of an employee in the first 6 months of employment. Some new faces might do some good for this school not just new teachers but new management as well. Fortunately, there is no where to go but up. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
