... Read more we're such a terrible school because of the correlation of our demographic makeup to our test scores. What does other nearby schools like Monta Vista has to offer? They're a predominantly White and Asian school. Where's the diversity there? Aside from my obvious ranting, the teachers here do care about student progress. Having been in the Drama department these past four years, I knew that I was supported by my peers and my teacher. In conclusion, don't base your decision purely on test scores. Fremont High is a decent school. The best thing about it is there are many great teachers who truly care about their students. ... Read more with this school is that there aren't as many challenging AP and Honors courses offerred like many other schools do. This is only because there are a number of students who need remedial courses so the funding is focused on those courses instead of the challenging courses. I think this can easily be corrected by cutting the remedial courses and focusing on the challenging ones because frankly the kids taking those remedial courses don't really care about academics and will not go on to college and succeed. Students easily interact with individuals from all walks of life, giving them the opportunity to expand their friendships beyond exclusive 'cliques' which tend to arise at other schools. Do not judge Fremont by its test scores. The socio-economic level of your student's peers should not dictate the school you send them to; it is not an indication of the level of education your student will receive. Fremont High School is a very successful, fully integrated academic high school in Sunnyvale California. It hosts a full range of academic, club, music, art, drama and extracurricular activities. The staff is highly committed and highly flexible. The students are genuine and lack the all too common

Fremont is an excellent school with a rigorous curriculum and a welcoming environment. The administration and teaching staff are passionate about helping students succeed. We have been in this school for 3 years. One child will graduate next year and another will be coming into the school next year.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
Gifted and Talented
A school system may identify 10% to 15% or more of its student population as gifted and talented. A brief description of each area of giftedness or talent as defined by the Office of Gifted and Talented:
general intellectual ability or talent - high intelligence test score (usually two standard deviations above the mean), and high levels of vocabulary, memory, abstract work knowledge and abstract reasoning;
specific academic aptitude or talent in one area such as mathematics or language arts;
creative and productive thinking, the ability to produce new ideas;
leadership ability, the ability to direct individuals or groups to a common decision or action;
visual and performing arts, special talents in visual art, music, dance, drama, or other related studies;
psychomotor ability, such as practical, spatial, mechanical, and physical skills.
Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
