... Read more distracting and inappropriate for successful students. The average high temperatures for Spring Valley is 68 in January and 87 in July. It is rarely above 95, and so no excuse for students to dress inappropriately in skimpy clothes. Read less

I am a graduate of SCHS. I am a first year graduate. The school helped me a lot for college. the teachers were wonderful and helpful. I never had a study hall block in my 4-years there. It is very easy to learn ahead my fellow classmates.

I would have to agree with the previous reviewer in that our kids graduated from SCHS and were not prepared for college either. They were placed in remedial English writing classes and remedial math classes in college. It will take them both six years to graduate from college. They had friends from

We were not a fan of the Charter system and would hope that there would be a referendum. We just want what is best for our children and yours. My daughter was new to SCHS this year, entering into the 10th grade. Previously she attended private school. I was as nervous as she was. To our surprise, she has adjusted well, making lots of new friends. She loves her teachers who are challenging her in all of her classes. The kids will get out
... Read more of it what they put into it. If you looking for a babysitter 8 hours out of the day, you'll be disappointed. This is a school for learning and growing. Lots of xtracurricular activities for student interests. Teachers are always responsive to my inquiries and phone calls. I highly recommend this school! Read less

... Read more as well prepared for college as others who attend high schools with a traditional schedule. Students also do very poorly on the math STAR testing. Not enough time in class. They call it college prep but half the students don't complete the requirements needed (see the district website and STAR test scores) . Nevertheless, my son has enjoyed the school and and the reduced academic load. . I only hope his classes (which are honors) will enable him to get into a UC school. She never got the classes she needed, and she would have lost all of her credits for a term for absences (even though she had clear medical documentation that she had been bedridden for a month and had completed all missed work). She had teachers that she liked, and some of her assignments were creative, but she was very limited in terms of choosing courses. She was shy and a little different, but her efforts to have a social life at that school that were complete failures. Read less

My daughter is graduating from Steele Canyon today & this school is amazing! She's had wonderful teachers who really care about the students and put a lot of time into them, the administration is great, the school itself is the cleanest high school I've ever seen & the athletic programs here are outstanding!
... Read more Steele Canyon students care about and take care of their friends, their families and their school. They take pride in being a 'Cougar' and their school spirit is phenomenal! Every student is expected to work at least at a College Prep level & there's a lot of help for those that may need it. There's no 'auto shop' there (which is fine with me) because ALL students are encouraged to go to college. Finally, their mascot SCRATCH is the best and the heart behind the school. Go Cougars! Of course you have some bad apples but overall its the best school i have ever taught at in my teaching carreer. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
