This school isn't as bad as others might suggest i graduated here in 2009 and got into a 4 year college with no problem. Some teachers are really great but others don't even teach at all but instead watch movies and practically hold a study hall where no studying is being done. The All but one of the

I took all AP classes and had no problem get into college, or performing once I got there. The whole time I was at Soledad High, my teachers would tell me 'this is how you'll do it in College, so that's why you need to do it this way now.' And guess what, they were right. Read more knew MLA format, how to write a structured essay, how to take correct notes, and so on, while other students from different areas/schools, didn't and basically had to learn how on their own. High school is what you make of it. My younger sister graduated from SHS as well. She had no problem getting into a 4 year college, where she is in her third year at. Some teachers don't know how to wisely use all the class-time the given them under the block system. Read less

I went to this school, and everyone talks about everyone. Teachers have their favorites and immature kids act out of hand. It's sad that our Principal couldn't control the dumb acts on behalf of these kids. I graduated 2007, and once I got into college it was embarrassing to know that I wasn't as smart
... Read more as my other classmates. I realized how much I was behind in education. In high school, my teachers were sweet as friends, but they did not teach me the most important stuff. I'm like a year behind now! I wish My family would've Sacrificed an hour drive, to Salinas High school, a school of success and a school with great sports. I could have got into a 4 year college.... The school is average or below average. There are some good teachers, but there are others who: spend class time watching movies, acting as study hall, or having the students read to themselves. As an example, my child had to take a lab class for Algebra when there was no lab, just a teacher holding
... Read more study hall. There is a Norteno and Sureno gang problem, but the Probation Officers and School Resource Officers do an excellent job in maintaining their presence and order. Some of the teachers are scared of the disruptive students and fail to deal with them at the expense of the students who want to learn. If our family was not tied to Soledad we would move to a better school district. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
