My son went to Pre-K at this school and we put him in public school the first semester of his K year. He was terribly bored (in public school, no offense to public schools, but for us, private was a better match) and his teacher even commented that he knew all the curriculum already and must have had
... Read more an awesome preschool. The second half of his K semester, we moved our son back to Pinecrest to finish off the K year. We were completely grateful we made the switch. He was fluently reading by the end of the K year and we are keeping him there for Grade 1 and enrolling our daughter for the K program for 2009-2010. Read less

My son is in K at Pinecrest and loves his teachers and going to school every day. The curriculum seems to be intense, yet, his homework is not overbearing for him or for us (no homework on the Fridays gives us a nice weekend break). The school day goes until 3 pm which is longer than many other schools.
... Read more There are sports and other activities offered (at extra cost) after 3 pm. My son loves his tae kwon do classes 3x week and soccer this season (we also look forward to the swimming class in summer). For two full time working parents these extra curricular activities on the school campus add great value. We are definitely taking advantage of the early enrolment incentives this month to keep him at Pinecrest next year as well. Read less

My son attended Pinecrest in Simi Valley from K-3. He loved this school, I loved the teachers and the curriculum. If we hadn't moved I would have never removed him from this school. He is now attending Pinecrest Woodland Hills. Very different. I do not recommend. He will be changing schools this year.

The administration here is horrid. They are happy to take your money but fake smile otherwise. There are a few real genuine people here but the cons really out weigh the positives. The toddlers come home very dirty and hungry. The teachers are attentive but tired. I don't recommend going here. They don't

My daughter is in First Grade and has attended Pinecrest since she was 18 months. The reason we chose Pinecrest was that my husband and I both attended the same Pinecrest ourselves for Pre-school and Elementary. We have been very pleased with how our daughter enjoys every day of it including every teacher
... Read more she has had, the fabulous extracurricular activities, including dance and cheerleading. Her reading and writing skills, along with social skills are amazing to us and we will be placing our second child into the toddler program in the spring. We feel very safe everyday when she walks through the door onto the large campus and attends all of the activities right there at the school. We feel every dollar is well spent. Read less

I agree with the previous post. the Pre-K and K programs are ok. However, elementary programs are very weak. Very high turnover in teachers; no mentoring programs; don't expect to get what you pay for.

Currently have two children attending Pinecrest Middle and elementary school. Extracurricular activities and before and after programs are good. Campus is clean and kept up. Both kids were reading and writing by end of 1st grade. Class sizes are small. However, there is no support for students who are
... Read more high achievers or underachievers. There is no guidance counselor for middle schoolers . The middle school principle handles the discipline. There is no mentoring programs for this group and I am not comfortable with the person in charge. There is a high turnover with elementary teachers and tuition goes up yearly. You pay for all books and lunches are costly. This is a for profit business so there is still fundraising done to acquire necessities. I won't be returning to this school. Read less

Pinecrest in Simi Valley has a great elementary school system in check! However, there is a great turn around of teachers. The middle school principal still needs to learn positive leadership and positive role modeling behavior. The principal is not equal to all students across the board. Children

From 1 to 10 I rate this school a 7 for elementary and a 4 for middle school not worth your money since there are other great public schools in the area with more programs and they are free! My husband and I are not sure why this school has such a great reputation. They pride themselves on 'protecting' the kids from harmful play, etc. yet my child has come home several times with complaints that classmates and older kids are being mean. They are very fast to call you when your child is

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
