This school was terrible. Many parents say it might be good, and me being a parent disagrees. I worked a lot with the school and I usually was a teachers helper. The teachers were rude, disrespectful, and took the students as idiots. The people in the offices were terrible. Honestly do not send your

Our son just culminated from Millikan. He began in Drama, but quickly found his heart in the Civics Academy. While teachers did have to fight the chatter of adolescents in the classroom (something I blame on parents not teaching their children how to behave), they demanded the best from him as did

This first year at Millikan has been a great experience for my child. However, I feel that there is a bit too much leniency in terms of following appropriate policy and procedures. The teachers seem to be able to do things their way instead of following a protcol. Curriculum and classroom policies seem

Some teachers respond very quickly to parent questions and concerns, others do not respond at all. Therein lies the problem. There needs to be clear and consistent policies and procedures that teachers are expected to follow, and administartion enforces, with regard to classroom policies, appropriate parent follow up, etc. This would make things easier for all in the long run. PS. My child was indeed given 8 projects to complete in one month during testing. Read less

Yes, Millikan may be a good performance arts magnet, yet I had trouble with getting some teachers to respond to my concerns in a timely manner. Though there are some amazingly talented teachers here, the overall problem of communication is not being addressed. After being frustrated and talking to parent friends of kids in each grade, I learned that it is very difficult to get many teachers to respond to questions or concerns, even if you follow

It seems very common to not get a question responded to-ever- unless you take time off from work and show up in an administrator's office asking for help to contact the teacher. While this is not true for some excellent teachers, I'd put the rate of response to parents at about 50%. They absolutely do not follow the 48 hour LAUSD rule.
