I'm a parent of a Senior that has been in Special Ed classes since the 4th grade. He has not been able to pass CAHSEE and now in his final year I'm afraid it's a bit too late to catch up all that they need to know He has a legitimate learning curve, does poorly in testing even though he think he

I can now see why some students just give up and will become the one left behind. Those that can learn quickly do alright. He just can''t seem to get it and is very frustrated. Graduated from SHS several years back, c/o 2005, aware of significant faculty changes since then, not sure if for better or for worse. Seaside was definitely the most diverse K-12 school I've ever attended, and I grew up in a military family, so I've been to my share of schools. School has so much

From what I remember, parents were fairly active in participating with extracurricular activities. Seaside is on par, if not better than the rest of the high schools on the peninsula, not including academics. Students are well prepped for getting into college, but not so much as to what to expect while in college. I'm currently a student at UC-Davis, and it seems that a seaside high education really doesn't help here. Read less

Classes are overflowing with students, classrooms are filthy, some, not all, of the teachers are overworked and frustrated with the kids with discipline issues that the rest of the students suffer. It also gets on my last nerve when I visit the office and am treated like a student.
