Santa Cruz offers honors classes in almost all subjects. If you you expect you kid doing well in High School, I sugest honors and AP classes for her/ him. If they take take those classes, they will be making friends with kids who also take those classes. The classes' enviroment will be much better than
... Read more the regular classes. Joing Band programs is also a good option to keep than busy and they will need to take 4 classes a day, instead of 3. I like the school. I think it is the best one in the area. Read less

After I finished middle school, my dad really wanted to send me to SVHS. After doing some research, I knew that that was NOT where I wanted to be. Santa Cruz high was a much better option because there they focus on the progress on the student, not punishing him/her for every little thing. SCHS won't
... Read more babysit/treat you like a child, it will teach you about responsibility, and WANTING to do well. I found that I loved my teachers/peers so much that it broke my heart to do poorly in class. The school is horribly underfunded, but I guess a lot of schools are these days (so sad.) Underfunded or no, we still have fantastic teachers like Katie Harper (love her!!) who make the best of what they have. If you're sending your lucky kid to SCHS, stick them in her art class. It will change their lives. Read less

Santa Cruz High is the best school in the area of Santa Cruz, and overall seems to have the best teachers, classes, athletic programs, morale, and all over happiness for the students.

Santa Cruz High is a great school because it is so free. I have been to/looked into other schools after leaving SC, and none can quite compare to the freedom I had there. Though some parents might think this a bad thing, Santa Cruz High has many, many freshman students on the right track: Can you say

SCHS's strength has always been its strong teachers and the dedication and commitment of its caring administrative staff and active, supportive parents. Recent budget cuts have pared essentials to the bone and teachers and counsellors are seriously overworked. This has caused major damage to the morale

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
