While all schools can continually improve, I feel Harbor is the best choice for a Santa Cruz High School. Most teachers are amazing and will actually tutor your student if asked. The parents expect a lot but on the whole give too little of themselves. Good schools take lots of parent support, more would

I have been at Harbor for 10yrs. both of my students tried hard and were rewarded by getting into 12 U Cs between them, they both got into all colleges they applied to, were more than well prepared for college and both on the Deans List as Freshmen. I volunteer regularly and see a school that respects students, teachers and parents. Parents/students should remember it's not how many AP classes that are offered but how well you do in them that counts! Read less

Our son is a JR at Harbor High and has had a great high school experience there. The teachers he has had, have been inspiring, challenging and supportive. Many of them have been Harbor students themselves or are parents of Harbor students. The teachers seem to have respect for one another and truly enjoy

I think the quality of education could be better here, but then again, this is Santa Cruz. I don't feel this school prepares one very well for a four year college. Thank goodness for Cabrillo Junior College. Level of parental involvement is high, as far as sports go. Some teachers have been there for

I'm tired of people griping about Harbor High school's low school spirit. Just because the students refuse not to wear bright yellow and lime green doesnt mean that they dont care about there school. I was on the swim team and I had great love and pride for my swim mates and our hard work together, yet
... Read more I never wore yellow and green cause I didn't like the colors and there was no social award or thanks for having half the school dress in our colors. Unfortunatly we live in one of the most expensive communities with the lowest paying jobs so it's hard to come up with extra 'fun' money for things like dressing in school colors. We have to use that money for our library to stay open and our after school 'l.i.f.e' programs that help kids cope with school and family pressures. Read less
