Read more so to speak, so kids aren't competing with each other over who has the coolest clothes, which is especially an issue for girls at most schools as girls move into the middle school years. The teachers are caring, well-trained, and they give lots of one on one attention to students. My daughter loves school, which is more than I could ever ask for as a parent. Graduates go on to terrific private high schools like Menlo and Crystal, among others, which is a testament to the great education that the school provides year after year. Read less

Cal Public Schools are in the lowest 50% of all States - investing in your childrens education is the most important gift you can give them - the earlier the better. Imagine a middle school with no electives, no band, no space to meet CA state Physical Education standards, no advance math course options, no cafeteria, no indoor gym facilities for basketball or volleyball all for $22k and the requirement of 60 volunteer hours??? We are very happy with our experience at St. Matthews. Academics are challenging, most kids exceeding grade level requirements. The kids are exceptionally well behaved and good mannered. The tuition is expensive, therefore mainly children from wealthy families attend, however, most of the parents
... Read more are genuinely kind and caring individuals who want the best environment for their child. Teachers are fantastic and are true partners with parents in helping children be and feel successful. We appreciate that our child is in a Christian environment where children are always supported, supervised and safe. There are volunteer hours at the Dickens House, but we have found that working alongside other parents strengthens the school community and builds relationships with other school families. While there is no perfect school, St. Matthews is the closest thing in this area. Read less

Our child is quite bright but tends to wonder off task (especially when he is bored). We put him in St Matthews because we thought that the lower student-teacher ratio and more nimble private school environment would be more nurturing and conducive to his development than say, a local public school.

Advanced Placement
