I'm a lucky parent who had the option of choosing private schools when my daughter was little. From PreK through K, 3 years, she attended a fantastic Mandarin program in SF. She loved it. We speak no Chinese btw. Needing to move south, we worried we might have to end our daughter's Mandarin schooling.
... Read more By chance, I drove by CP's campus and saw the 'Mandarin immersion' sign. I was skeptical. I did a ton of research and brought M to visit classes. Wow. Now enrolled and in week 3, we're loving it. Teachers, principal and parents are creating a lively, challenging and supportive environment for kids from all backgrounds. Families run the gamut from well educated parents who chose this program over other 'high scoring' schools, to hard-working neighborhood Latino families. We enrolled in the kindergarten program to give our child an academic challenge by learning Mandarin. We were prepared to supplement our child's education in other areas as needed. ... Read more our 5-year old is now reading chapter books and is completeing word problems for Math homework. We did not believe the school could provide differential learning for the children but we were wrong. Not only can our child read, write and speak (sing) in Mandarin, the core academic classes have been a wonderful surprise. Initially, we were hesitant to write a review as we were hoping to keep this school a secret for ourselves but we felt it wouldn't be right to not recognize the wonderful instruction the faculty is providing the children. Our daughter joined College Park's GATE program in the 4th grade last year. To those parents whose child is identified as gifted and are considering this program, our advice is, 'There is no better learning opportunity at this grade level that we know of in the Bay area, than the GATE program at this
... Read more school!'. The principal is the perhaps the brightest, most open and approachable principal we have ever come across. The two GATE teachers constitute a great teaching team and care deeply about instilling the highest values and train students to be exceptional independent learners, a skill that will make them very successful in school and life. The peer group that you will child will learn with is a set of highly gifted children who inspire each other to reach higher levels of intellect in the spirit of a good team. Nowhere will you find a more dedicated principal. The staff, teachers and parent support are all open to new ideas. Child nor parent feels like a number at College Park. The principal makes a point of knowing everyone well. It took a while for my child and family at adapt to the change of a new school
... Read more but after being a part of this developing school masterpiece it is clear it and we are on the right track. The level of higher and broader thinking is so refreshing after being plugged into the system in our other school for years. As a volunteer it is great to learn from others and be listen to instead of feeling like just a body filling a spot. If you are willing to be a part of your child's education... College Park is definitely a work in progress and we are very happy to be here. The principal is outstanding. We love her hands on approach with students/teachers/parents and she is always quick to come up with creative solutions. Our child is in the G.A.T.E. program and greatly benefitting this program

After a highly disappointing 3rd grade at another local school public school, we were thrilled to learn about a school in our district that actually has a program for gifted children. Our son was very frustrated with his previous school...it was all about the faculty/leadership (and not social issues).
... Read more What a difference College Park has made. The two teachers for the GATE program are exceptional. If all teachers were like them, nobody would have any concerns about our public schools. The transition was very easy (thanks to the thoughtful and engaging principal) and their teachers are truly the best teachers our son has had. He goes to school with a smile and truly enjoys being challenged (rather than bored) . Their curriculum is exceptional, including foreign languages (2) and a science lab that is one of a kind West of the Rockies. This is the best kept secret in our area. Read less

We have a daughter in the kindergarten program (and another who attends the Mandarin immersion pre-k program which is also on the campus). We're big fans of the school. The kindergarten teachers are all extremely good, the principal is a strong leader, and we're tremendously excited about the Mandarin

My daughter is in kindergarten and she loves it. They have a mandarin immersion program in the afternoon, and although it is still a work in progress, the teachers are wonderful and my daughter is making progress. The principal is wonderful and is always willing to make improvements to the program.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
