My only problem is the rich kids' environment and attitude of entitlement that many of the students seem to possess. I'm not sure that the school can do any more than they already do to change that. Lick is a great school. The head master is a visionary, yet a concerned and compassionate leader. The shops are great along with classes such as architecture, which most high schools may not have. My one complaint, the English department is very weak! Few good teachers and an especially lousy curriculum

... Read more people. Also unique about Lick, is the 'hands on' motto...a mottos which manifests itself in the technical arts shops. Within the Lick campus are 5 techinal arts shops: metal, wood, jewelry, glass, electronics, and photo. As a student, we're able to take classes in any or all of these shops and have a blast doing it. We've been able to create tables, chairs, cabinets, necklaces, rings, working robots, glass beads, mosaics, stained glass windows, glass dishware, and so many other things. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
