Of all the schools I toured during SFUSD's lottery enrollment process, Francis Scott Key Elementary was the only full inclusion public elementary school that was warm, welcoming, and open. Principal Wong answered all my questions, was honest and candid about improvements that could be done and was proud of the school's accomplishments. I feel he genuinely cares about all his students, special needs or not. He's also very supportive of the teachers, who are all very dedicated, caring, committed, loving and nurturing. One of the teacher's received Mayor Newsom's Teacher of the Month award and I believe she greatly deserved it. Even when I asked to observe and sit in during class time, the teachers and the principal were always very accomodating. FS Key is truly a caring and inclusive school community. The inclusion teacher is also very committed to her students' needs. I absolutely adored, Ms. Lily Lee, my son's kindergarten teacher. If there is such a thing as a perfect teacher, Ms. Lee would be her! I also love our PTA! I invite you to check out our school's website: http://www.francisscottkeyschool.org/home. He is patient, fair, listens - yes, he listens!!!, and thus far, every decision he makes is in 'support' of the kids - 100%. With active/involved parents, great principal, and strong PTA, I hope we stay on course. Only downside, school goes only K - 5 and not K - 8 like some schools in the area. Read less
