Read more to principal leadership is like that of a well run business or restaurant ; If Principals keep their teachers happy (supplies, interacting, praise, etc), than teachers apply their teaching strategies much more effectively, and students learn and are happy. Believe me kids know when something is bothering us. They are like little detectives. T he teachers are amazing but the school lacks many extra-curricular programs and electives. Read less

This school lacks leadership in the front office and it begins with the principal. Teachers seem fairly dedicated, although not much emphasis is made on preparing students for the amount of homework they will be receiving at the high school level.

... Read more I've seen the main concern, luckily, is still very much that our kids get the education they deserve. I thank every staff member from the bottom of my heart for the time, love, consideration and extreme effort put towards our kids every day. If only all the parents were as involved in the kids lives as the staff is, (myself included), we would be even prouder of our kids than what we already are. Thank you Tubman Staff. Read less

My children went to tubman until i removed them last year. Most of the teachers are great! especially the middle school teachers, but the frustration on trying to communicate with the principal was very frustrating-i wanted to be an active parent but i felt that the school did not welcome my help or

Read more welcome me even on the school site with or without an appointment-i feel that teachers and parents should be partners and i felt like had to leave my children at the door and that was it-unless there was a problem then i was expected to be there....The principal is invisible and always in a meeting...There are very few outside learning experiences-the best thing about the school is the teachers and staff (most of them) but communication is very minimal at best. My children were students at Tubman for years and it was an arts based school with art teacher, music teacher, and gardening but that is no more. The principal is never available to talk to. I feel that it is not as it is advertised.

All the teachers are fully credentialed and work hard - many coming in early, working at night and on weekends and doing it without extra pay because they care about the children. It has teachers for art, music, PE, computer courses even for the kindergarten and first graders. The SD Superintendent and other School Board Members have praised this school's improvement and progress. I suggest you go visit the school, talk to parents, teachers and yes the Principal rather than just read negative comments. You owe it to your children! Read less

... Read more say it is. Alot of the staff and teachers are more into appearence what I mean is they don't care about the over all school just their own agenda. I would not recommend this school to any one. In one semester we have lost a teacher and many staff workers. This school is currently under going alot of changes and if we could get a different principal the school would be a success because she is not a caring person. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
