Most of the teachers there really care about you, not just how you're doing in school, but what's happening outside of it. They talk to you, and don't just do the minimal work of teaching you, because that's what they're getting paid for! The only bad thing is that they rip everyone off. Although they adapt to the California Standards for math, but the level of thinking and ability of problem solving that involved is way more advanced than the old school my kids attended. My son used to say,' At my old school, I can do the works with my eyes closed, ears plugged and mind shut down, but here at Highlands, I need to think.' ... Read more a nephew graduating from 8th grade this year and as he has consistently achieved a 3.9 avg all years at Highlands and I expect that he too, will gain enterance to wherever he applies. They've loved their time at Highlands and were torn about moving on. As an active Family member I have always been extremely supportive of the kids and feel that they have gotten an excellent education, both scholastically and personally. I still keep a very close relationship with all those I've met there. on the other hand highlands college prep is not as up to par to its middle and elementary schools. theres is still a lot of improvements that need to be met; including extra curricular activities, its own building, number of students and teachers, and just an overall system. in my opinion highlands is the best place to send your child until they reach high school. ... Read more pick up our respective students. My kids enjoy their extracurricular activities i.e. piano lessons, bell choir, golf and swimming lessons (during summer). I agree that some of the rooms need more windows but this is why they are moving their upper grade classes to a different location so that the lower grades will have more rm. AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
