My child and I love the Expeditionary Learning Program! The teachers, Mrs. Russotti, Mr. Menth,& Mr. Nelson are the most dedicated group of teachers I have ever seen and Dr. Lori Mason, the principal of Mountain Shadows, does a fabulous job of running the school. I do agree that it is more expensive

Read more then regular classes but I was given the opportunity to do an independent fundraiser for my child which helped with the expenses.The ' expeditions' have been a priceless learning experience for my child. When we have needed a partial scholarship I only needed to fill out a request. The kids are very prepared for high school and life when they complete this program- I could not recommend it more highly! Read less

Keep in mind that the Expeditionary Learning Program 's out of pocket expenses can be quite costly. The 'scholarship program' benefits strictly to the discretion of the teachers & a select few parents, not based on need/performance. In other words, if you don't have money or are not 'in' with the

My daughter is in 7th grade at Mountain Shadows Middle School, she is in Expeditionary Learning and has had an excellent experience. As a parent, I am grateful for the teachers in this wonderful program, Ms. Russotti, Mr. Menth and Mr. Nelson. My child is challenged and is learning at levels far higher
... Read more then I was at the same age, 30 years ago. The expeditions have given my daughter confidence and self-esteem to tackle anything. It was a perfect move from the G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) programs of her elementary school and she has expressed interest in applying for Tech Highschool. I compare it to a private school within a public school system. I currently have two children attending Mountain Shadows, we love this school! Many nieces and nephews also have attended and/or currently attend school here and their experience along with us parents has always been positive. Great Outdoor Ed program as well, what a great experience for our children.

I have my second child attending Mountain Shadow Middle School and participates in the ExL program. I feel the Exl program at MSMS is the best program available for any child in middle school. The teachers are amazing and the curriculum is outstanding. I would recommend this program for anybody's child.

I think this school is just like any other...you get out of it what you put into it. I have 2 sons. One attended MSMS in the ExL program for 8th grade, and one son is currently a 7th grade (2nd year) ExL student. I couldn't give this program any higher praise than I already do. I had a child that went to this school but she had to move. I especially liked from this school that they have P.E. Every day and that they have the program expeditionary learning. Both my daughters liked it although one had to move before she graduated. Me as a parent really enjoed to see how this

The atmosphere here is a welcoming one with faculty and staff concerned predominantly about the well being of the students. Teachers are committed and students form a welcoming strong community. Several noteworthy programs include band, shop, and expeditionary learning.

Mountain Shadows has an older facility, but a great faculty. The school serves many English Learners, yet is able to also offer programs which challenge all students. The Expeditionary Learning Program, which takes learning out of the classroom setting with many field trips, is challenging and fun

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
