I have to agree with the previous posting in response to the Feb. 5, 2009 posting. That person does not know what they are talking about. Rocklin Academy uses a random lottery system and does not choose only the top students. My daughter was lucky enough to get chosen in the lottery and started Kindergarten

She had no academic history or any type of testing, so how did Rocklin Academy choose her based on performance? Obviously, they didn t. That person is the reason so many public schools, especially in California, are so bad. Too many people are unwilling to support new and innovative ways to educate our children, and when a school does succeed, they criticize and try to bring the school down. * In 2008-2009 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.
