... Read more carried in. My own child has a book with the most disgusting graffiti scribbled throughout and all I got out of the teacher was a shrug. Not to mention the principal, who didn't even acknowledge my concerns. I believe that many of CMS teachers are devoted to their profession. But in my experience with this school, all I have seen is mountains of homework, including weekends, and my child saying that the teacher spends most of the time on the computer or on the phone. I believe CMS treats their students unfairly based on their race. Children of community leaders and/or whose parents are more involved in this schools activities and who tend to contribute more of their time to be volunteers at certain events or activities seem to have different rules to follow as opposed

I transferred my son to Cardozo from Somerset due to a move to Riverbank. My sons classes have been more challenging and he has become more involved in school athletics. His teachers, Ms. Bartholomew, Ms. Wallen and Mrs. Lagier are the most dedicated, encouraging and effective thus far. Ms. B is not
... Read more only a teacher, she is also the Athletic Director and coaches several sports. The staff is always available for parents whenever they have a concern. The administgrative staff is awesome. This site is definitley for the better of the Students. I feel that Cardozo gets unflattering comments because parents refuse to follow through and support their children's teachers. Success in school begins at home, where parental support and positive involvement in your child's education is practiced. Getting involved only when you find fault is not only unfair to the staff, it's unfair to your child. Positive realationships with your child's teacher can only benifit his desire to learn, his successes can only follow. Cardozo is an excellent place to enrich your child's educational needs. ... Read more out on some kind a leave. That is what hurts the students learning ability. In my opinion other than the teachers that rarely come to school, all the teachers at Cardozo Middle School get an A+ with me. They are great teachers and put a lot of effort into empowering their students with knowledge. Read less

... Read more do not have the essential materials, like core subject text books to take home. English learner studetns cannot overcome language barriers without the appropriate curriculum materials. All students possess the right to have a text book in which it can be used to enrich each childs educational life. The parent conferences where completely un organized with the line waits having to be about 30-45 minutes to speak just to one teacher. Parents concerns are being ignored. I have been to the office on October 22, 2003 to wait for the principal for two hours. While I was their a Latin couple waiting to speak with the principal about their childs concerns had to leave because they had a doctors appointment and had to go to work and the principal was not there. The children are doing the translation when in fact it is the school legal responsibility to provide a translator. My child's schedule was changed without my consent or approval. It is my right to have a written notice in my native language about these changes, my child is a minor and they should not do as they please with him. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
