We transfered from another school within the district, and wow what a difference. There are many reasons why Jefferson rates the highest. The parent involvement is more than the same 30 parents, the teachers truely take the time to work with every student, and the principal is always there. Principal

Academically, pretty good school. Best in the RB district, but test scores not as high as surrounding areas (which have more homogeneous, high income families). Mixed bag of teachers: some outstanding (both new & veterans), some don't try that hard, some just not that bright. School has suffered from

No real art or sports to speak of (except Hands on Art program 6 times/year). Vocal music program sad...my kids hated it. PTA historically strong, although not particularly good at reaching out to include lots of parents. Raises tons of money, but has fallen out of the all-district network (PTA Council), where much information about workings of the district & other schools is disbursed. PTA doesn't keep parents informed...but you can learn a lot by getting involved. Overall, a B+ Read less
