Learning comes easy here- which is why one reviewer might have thought all kids did was play. Learning should be as easy and enjoyable as playing. The classrooms are quiet and the kids are very busy with their 'work'. They each have purpose and direction. The children do not wait to be told to do

Great school. I have two kids there now and I'm very satisfied with their progress. We drive 20 miles each way for them to attend this school and it's worth it. The tuition payment is the best money we spend each month. The teachers are very caring, the kids aren't forced to learn, no workbooks or

Kids work quietly and are self-directed, learning how to learn, something that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. The learning here isn't forced. Kids learn in such a natural way. The staff and administration do a great job. I am so thankful I'm able to give my kids the opportunity to learn and flourish at this school. Read less

People move to Redlands to go to this school. It's got a national reputation. If there were such things, it would be a Division I Montessori school. AMI certified. Beautiful setting in a grapefruit grove. And it's got a great community around it, nice people with good values. Our children have

From my son's first day (starting in 3rd grade) at Montessori in Redlands he felt like he was surrounded by friends; not the odd man out being new. It's the most friendly, positive school environment I've ever seen. The teachers are dedicated and skilled. If considering Montessori for your child, the

Montessori is highly individualized rather than the usual whole class working on one assignment at a time structure. It lets your child work at their own pace. So, your child can work at ANY level regardless of their grade. This makes it a great place for students that enjoy learning, and encourages them to do so. We ve been exceedingly happy with Montessori in Redlands, and feel lucky our kids are there. It s a happy place. Read less

Our daughter attended MIR from kinder (called 'Primary') through 6th grade. While the MIR atmosphere is nuturing and creative, sometimes the teaching is under par. Our experience is that certain teachers are quite weak in math and science, especially math. This posed a problem when my daughter went

The head of school is very difficult to communicate with, despite the repeated efforts of several parents, over the course of the years my daughter attended, were met with frustration. The school board isn't really as involved as it should be in helping to deal with these issues. The office staff is quite 'click-y'. Both of my sons attended this school from pre-school (from 3 yrs and 16 mos., respectively) until 6th grade. The school atmosphere/learning philosophy works very well and is very hands on (not traditional book learning) and integrates real world experiences, even at the toddler level. The preschool

One teacher had my older son most of his elementary and he floated under her radar and was never truly challenged (be he did learn); my younger son had a teacher for most of his elementary that encouraged him to reach his potential with high (appropriate) expectations. The sense of community within a given class is incredible (your child spend most of their elementary years with the same teacher/classmates in this integrated, multi-grade classroom environment). Yes, it is expensive, but I believe it was worth it. Read less

This school is a bright spot in an otherwise unimpressive place. The teachers are fantastic for the most part (there are a couple of exceptions, but classroom visits will make that obvious).
