We love the location of this school, very nice area. We have alot of parent volunteers, it's obvious that parents and the staff care about the kids. Everyone works together to help the kids succeed. I've never seen a school with so much support.

Barnett has been a great school for my 2 boys. Coming from out of state, the transition was seamless, and my children had a lot of support and fit right in. The GATE program was a bit disappointing, as the program we came out of was much stronger, however that being said, my GATE child still had a GREAT

I have had 2 children in this school through 1st and 4th grade. We have really enjoyed each year. We are moving away now and Barnett has really set a high standard. My 4th grader has really excelled in the GATE program and my 1st grader has struggled. Mrs. Appleman was right on top of the issues
... Read more with my 1st grader. Mr. Schimpf was an excellent teacher for my 4th grader. She never complained about the level of homework because the lessons were so fun. He was an amazing teacher that kept the children laughing and engaged all year long. Thank you Barnett, my expectations are high and I can only hope to find a school in VA that we love as much. I personally feel that the new principal Mrs Appleman is doing a great job. She has really turned things around. We went from not having any emergency plans in place to having several. She is also really involved with the staff and the kids. She's a great addition to Barnett.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
