The atheletic program has placed it's football team in the playoffs during the 06 & 07 (07 Div X Semi Finals) Boys Basketball also follows in the line of competivie teams with appearance in the CIF Championship Game in 2006. St. Bernard is an excellent academic school which truly does prepare your child for college.Counselors are very tentative to ensure every child has fulfilled their requirements academically for graduation and college.Among certain teachers can be better equipped with an accuracy of responding to emails

There extracurricular could be better but your not paying for activities your paying for an utmost education which it does provide with results. However,what concern me most is that this is a Catholic tradition high school not Christian nor Baptist in which others tried to implement those religions upon the catholic faith. Class 08! I have 2 children who graduated from St. Bernard and am now on the 3rd and 4th. This is a great school, the dance program is excellent. Although they do not have a winning sports team, they do have the program available. I like the uniform program, although I still think the kids push it a little

St. Bernard was not my first choice in what high schools I wished to attend. It did grow on me after the first year or so, however. As mentioned before,the drawing point for much of Bernard's hype is the Drama Dept. Some of the best productions, often matching the quality of a top-produced Broadway show

The AP curriculum differed from the Honors courses in name and testing only. Athletics are decent; Track has a high rating with CIF entry every year, as is Basketball and Volleyball; don't expect much from the football program. All in all, this school was decent for me; I'm in college now. But for parents, I urge you, keep your options open, and seriously consider your choice. Read less

This is a good school overall but I did feel it was a bit too strict and regimented. The children dont seem to have any fun going to school and I believe there should be balance in that area. Not very many extra circular activities.

My child is in her 3rd year at St Bernards and is enjoying the learning environment. I have two concerns: 1) I think they should imporve the way the selection process for which children are placed in AP classes and 2) I think the counselors should reach out to the children more to inform them of requirements

The Visual and Performing Arts program is by far one of the best high school programs (save a VPA magnet school) in the area. The department includes industry professionals who are truly dedicated to the students. I attended the Dance Recital last spring and could not believe I was watching high school

In the past few years, the school has substantially increased its academic admission standards -- resulting in the admission of far few students who test below grade level than in the past. The number of students admitted last year to University of California system far exceeds the baseline expectation of '12%' of the class. The quality is hit or miss. It depends upon the instructor. Some instructors take on the memorize and regurgitate method whereas there are those that are more concerned with teaching concepts and 'knowing' the material.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School
