20 Parent Reviews for John Muir High School

John Muir Highschool is the absolute best school for my 15 year old son. He was diagnosed with Autism at age two and has developed into high functioning Asbergers. The staff at Muir is excellent in engaging him, teaching him and advising him. He has superb grades, picked up playing the saxophone, ...  Read more

JMHS is a great school! The faculty, staff and administration are all very supportive. They've been working hard to improve the overall quality of the school, and there has been tremendous improvement since Principal Sipple has arrived. The kids are fantastic and are really fun to work with. JMHS ...  Read more

As a graduate, don't send your kids here. We didn't learn anything in half of my classes and half of the teachers didn't teach. The excuse of demographics doesn't even apply since PHS and Marshall pull from essentially the same pool, albeit no PUSD school compares to its neighbors. It wasn't until I ...  Read more

I'm a current student at this school, Junior, and I plan on leaving soon, (I received a letter from the district allowing me to do so due to its low API) Muir's teachers aren't motivated to teach since the students aren't willing to learn and there are ...  Read more

The school spirit is so high and the alumni in the area are so supportive! We have the only Alumni Association in the area and the group is working hard to support the students, teachers, faculty & staff and improve the school as a whole.

John Muir HS isn't what everybody thinks. I am a current senior, and first hand, I know how everybody judges the students who attend this school but also the school itself. In my opinion, it is better than Pasadena High School. Despite the part of Pasadena John Muir is in, it has a big graduation rate, ...  Read more

Muir has a terrible reputation from previous years. But now, with a good principle and some great teachers and programs, it seems to be improving. The freshman test scores are much above average. Muir was even featured on the Pasadena Star News discussing a great improvement. It is still yet to be seen ...  Read more

John Muir High School
Pasadena Unified School District
* In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.
