I attended OV from 5th grade with Kathy Foster (fantastic teacher) to 8th with Pete, Jim, Sharon, and Reni (also fantastic). I was there for both campuses and have to say I loved them both. My class was so close we were family! and the after school drama productions were some of my best memories.
... Read more The Principal and teachers are so great compared to the other school I have attended, its outstanding! The middle school experience was so much better then all the other horror stories I heard from other Junior Highs (Carnigie). I have such great memories and friends I took away from that school, if someday I have children I hope to find a school for them as great as OV. Read less

Orangevale Open School picks up where others lack. There are many acitivities offered to the students such as drama, music, and art. Yes, there are some fees associated with this, but you do get what you pay for and Orangevale Open is top notch. They have plays every year where students are encouraged
... Read more to be a part of. The field trips are very much hands on. Every childs' individual strengths are concentrated on. Sometimes I think my husband and I enjoy the school activities as much if not more than my daughter and she loves them! She is entering her second year at this school for fifth grade and this is the first time she is actually looking forward to going back to school. she is constantly asking me when she GETS to go back to school! What more could a parent as for??!!! Read less

OVO is a great school for children who are conformist. If you have a child with talents that lay outside the scholastic realm, don't expect them to be fostered here. I refer to scientific, sports or art related abilities. There are no art classes, no sports teams and no science fairs like you had when
... Read more you were a kid. Competition is discouraged in any form. While some feel this is a good thing, those of us with real life experience know that competition is a given. Learning to win and lose well is a valuable character trait. They don't learn it here. My child won awards for his artwork while at his previous school and came home w/ paintings and sculptures. He had a love for music and art. None of this is recognized at this school. If any of this is important to your child look elsewhere. Read less

We've put both our daughters through Orangevale Open, and we've been extremely pleased year in and year out. The faculty and administration are extremely dedicated. ... Read more almost-Montessori style of involvement, the use of really great field trips and the emphasis on parental participation make this school a must for any family eager to see their children get a fulfilling education -- and for parents who want to take a roll in that process. Read less

Orangevale Open has been a fantastic school for my 5-year old. She loves having an older mentor at the school and the creativity of the curriculum. The numerous fieldtrips (average about two a month) are a bonus too!

I am a former student at Orangevale Open. I attended the previous campus from kindergarten to eigth grade. I think it is an excellent school and would want all of my children to go there as well. Probably the best part of it is all of the hands-on learning experience, and you won't find better teachers

I am a student in middle school at Orangevale Open. This school has been my home since second grade and I'll be sad to leave next year. Second grade through this year i have never had a bad teacher. All the teachers are encouraging, nice, and very reasonable. I feel like this school has taught

Absolutely fantastic and our new campus is perfect for our school. The parent involvement really demonstrates dedidcation and creates a wonderful learning environment. Use of technology could and should be improved if and when better equipment becomes available.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
