I loved Milpitas High School! Being the large school that it is, since it's the only high school in town, I still had a rewarding and memorable experience. The school tries their best to reduce class sizes, and their efforts are more than substantial considering major budget cuts. If you don't like the

In terms of administration (Chuck Gary, Ken Schlaff..attendance), they are easy to contact and are very helpful in dealing with matters, as are the counselors (Beth Harke for instance) I mean, as a student, I think that the parents who complain are those who don't let their children experience high school to its full extent. Encourage your children to become involved, tell them to utilize the available resources in addition to maintaining academics. Read less

I had a very positive experience while attending Milpitas High. I was part ot the PTSA for some time, and there were not a lot of parents who showed up at meetings and events targeted for parents. However, those that did dedicate their time to school were passionate and were at a majority of the school functions. The principal was very approachable and friendly.. It is a melting pot for diversity. I don't believe that overall test scores reflect the student body-- a majority of my class went on to prestigious universities and community colleges. Read less

Principal and Counselor are great supporter when students' need academic support. Most teachers are very responsive to parent's inquiries, but there's also a few would never return phone call or email.

As a parent and educator, I am appaled at the low quality of educational programs, standards, expectations, and results in standard test scores for MHS. Don't blame these on 'ethnic diversity.'

I think the principal just cares about his reputation in the community and doesn't take care of the school. There's no communication among the teachers. I'll ask my kid's teachers about cell phone policy, attendance policy, and get 6 different answers! Also, the discipline here is nearly non-existent.

Many choices of classes to choose from. Most teachers are pretty good. Very good science dept. Large campus is good so that it can prepare you for college.
