I am the parent of 2 children at MHS (from the 2-yr old toddler program through 4th grade, so far). I have been constantly amazed by the love of learning that has been instilled in my children and the innovation and creativity of the teachers. My two children have attended this school since they were 2 and our experience has been nothing less than stellar. My daughter attended Marin Horizon from the primary years to graduation in 8th grade. In that time she learned great academic skills (scientific observation, math up to algebra 2, essay construction, and a sensitive and deep understanding of the causes and effects of world events/history. She learned

Her experience at Marin Horizon was worth every sacrifice her dad and I made to send her there. She has since graduated from an excellent high school in San Francisco and is in the midst of an exciting college experience. A nice little school in a quiet setting. The vibe is very caring and aware of other cultures. The school is anti-competition which is a nice break in a very competitive environment. The current Head of School is focused on bringing the school into competition with the elite local private schools.

This is a great school where the kids enjoy learning. They do not memorize dates to learn history, like we did, but they learn it in an active way. For example, they actually role-play the Nuremburg Trials in Middle School. Awesome!

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
