I'm a sixth grader at MBMS and so far I've been loving it here! The choral director is so nice and a great example for us students of what we can be in the future. The band and orchestra are amazing, too. The teachers are so helpful and give us challenging assignments which, as hard as they may be now,

There are(and have been) so many field trips planned for us like science camp where us sixth graders had a chance to experience a week of school in cabins on a mountain. Though I've had some trouble fitting in and making friends here, I believe this happens in most middle schools, if not all. MBMS is a great school and I would recommend it to everyone! :) Read less

My 12 year old started at Manhattan Beach Middle School when I transfered with my job to the Los Angeles area. Wanting a school system comparable to the suburban Cleveland system we were used to Manhattan Beach was the area we chose to live. We have since moved back to the Cleveland area, however,
... Read more I can say that the Manhattan Beach Middle School was just as good as what we were used to. There were many extras such as the 'nutrition' break for the students and breakfast for early starters. The only disappointment that I honestly had was that there wasn't any bussing for my student. Curriculum was good, teachers were great and all in all I was pleased. I would choose the same area again if I were to move to the Los Angeles area in the future. I hope this helps. Read less

My daughter entered this year (6th grade) so my experieice is limited, however, that being said; I have had in depth converstations with each one of her teachers and there is not a bad one in the bunch! The school provides a good amount of challenge yet keeps the curriculum enjoyable for the students.
... Read more I am impressed at how my daughter has been able to manage the increasing workload and yet she is excited to go to school every day. With nearly 1300 students enrolled, I expected there would be a lot of discord, however, MBMS is more organzied than her former elementary school that had less than 600 students. MBMS was build on a more modern master plan, and it works. The beach location makes it ideal for the kids to expand their P.E. program to include Volleyball, Surfing and much, much more! Read less
