I decided to post this comment. I am the parent of Transfiguration school kids. I work and I am very involved with the school. I would like to suggest that you spend a day at any of the neighboring elementary and middle school campuses. I am a believer of the saying 'it takes a village...'. Transfiguration

As an alumni of Transfiguration I was excited to learn that they offered a pre-k class. I transferred my son from a private school which had an accelerated program, only to learn that Transfiguration's pre-k program was no match. My son regressed in a matter of months! Even with all my efforts, without

There were no homework assignments, and when I asked I would get a one page activity sheet that I could acquire from any drug store! The children were not challenged in any way. Singing songs and coloring seemed to be all they did. Also, nepotism reigned supreme at this school, being Creole made you apart of the in crowd. I would not recommend this school to anyone! I was very happy when my children were accepted to this school. The quality of the education initially was great from grade 1-4. The problem began in middle school. I transferred my child to Transfiguration believing the experience would be better than her former charter school, but I'm not sure this is true. I really like this school. I transferred my children from another private school in which they outgrew. I like the fact that the grades are from pre-k to 8th, that means most siblings can attend the same school. I love the extracurricular activities, especially the sports programs. I wish the sports

The teachers at Transfiguration seem dedicated to the profession. My children are very happy with the school. Yet, my concern is more about private schools' test scores and accountability overall. While I know that the basics are being covered, I often wonder whether or not the challenge is there.

This would give parents a much better sense of how their school really performs academically. This information is so vital, especially when many parents avoid the neighborhood public school because of the alarmingly low test scores. It's almost as if one must put all confidence in a rating which is often based on 'word of mouth'. Hopefully, that 'mouth' is a successful product of, or respected participant in the parochial or private-education community. Read less
