... Read more to read and write at a college level. Looking back, my education at HHS was invaluable and I've had so much fun all throughout years of high school. I've learned leadership skills through JROTC Army at HHS and through various other extracurricular activities (Junior State of America, California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, Fencing, Treehugger Club, Community Service, Key Club). My guidance counselor and my college counselor and my teachers all helped me when I was applying to 21 colleges and universities and for that I'm truly grateful! Read less

It's all superstition. I have never seen a fight at this school, ever. Like any other school, it counts on which crowd you hang around. SAS is an excellent program and the performing arts classes are wonderful, as well. This school has one of the top college counselors in the nation.

I am a currentley a senior at Hollywood Senior High School and I think that its a really good school. I can't say its the best because I have'nt been to all the other High schools in the world. I have two daughters at this school in the 9th and 10th grades. They are both in the Performing Arts magnet and take all honors and AP courses in their core academic courses. Many of the teachers are very good. The performing arts classes are good and the students get valuable performing experience
... Read more that enriches their education, builds discipline and character and prepares them for hard work in the real world. The school does not have very high test marks but my daughters are doing very well academically because we constantly push them and push the teachers and administrators. Any school at some point is what the students and parents make it. Read less

Hollywood High School, is one of the best high schools ever. Im a former grad from Hollywood. I went from 2002-2006 and it was the best four years of my life. There are great teachers,programs and sport teams. There was only one fight the entire time I was there. Teachers are wonderful and espically

My son started in 9th grade & is now almost finished 11th grade. Having moved from European, my son at Hollywood High has been given such great opportunities that he would never had in his old school. For example in JROTC (and no they don't make students join the army!) it has helped him build confidence

The 'School' itself is not a problem, it's the system, and the Goverement is resposible for the school system. My son is happy at Hollywood High, so I'm Happy. Read less

The academic programs are good, they have advanced classes, honors and ap. The teachers are very educated. Children can join the band or football, soccer, basketball, and baseball. Parents have a fair involvement in the education of the children.

The quality of academic programs is fairly high, especially in the School for Advanced Studies on A and C tracks. There are several National Board Certified teachers on staff. Some 50 of the 121 teachers have 11 or more years of teaching experience. The availablility of music and extracurricular activities
... Read more are limited mostly to A Track, except for sports. Students have very few electives to choose from. When the French teacher on C Track retired, she was not replaced, leaving Spanish as the only foreign language on the track. The level of parent involvement is disappointingly low, despite the school's strenuous attempts to engage them. Read less

Parents must advocate for their children at this school site. It is possible to get a decent education if parent is on top of curriculum being taught in each class. Make sure teachers are teaching to state standards and call them on it if they are not. Not many teachers like change and times are

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
