Special mention to the Music program. Both my sons learned to play the saxophone from the band teacher, Mr. Lee Matalon. Mr. Matalon is a well know instructor (AVC, Paraclete, QHHS), player and bandleader (AV Jazz Ensemble for one) here in the Antelope Valley who has dedicated his time and attention

His students have gone on to play in high school marching bands, many of them honoring in music and achieving high accolades such as State Honor Band and receiving scholarships from their music. I am a parent of a first-grader and preschooler at Grace Lutheran, and this is our second school year. I cannot say enough good things about this school. Despite the school's small size, the kids get all the perks of a large, private school: weekly chapel; a computer lab with brand-new computers (even preschoolers use the computer lab); Spanish, art, and music for all ages; band beginning in 4th grade; intramural sports for 5th grade and up, and Jr. FIRST LEGO League for K-3 and FIRST LEGO League for 4th-8th. Elementary students also check books out of the library once a week. Parent involvement is very high, and the school welcomes parent input and volunteerism. The school really feels like a big, extended family. We could not be more happy with this school and consider it one of the best kept secrets in the Antelope Valley. Read less

As far as schools in the Antelope Valley's go, this one is amongst the top five. When you factor in tuition rates and teacher quality then it s between this school and Sacred Heart. I have had by children enrolled in both schools. I was easily convinced to re- enroll them both in 2013 not just because
... Read more of the standardized testing results from this school year (2012), but because of the attention the teachers have provided to each of my children. They have made success attainable for each all the while building up their self-confidence. For those of you considering alternative schools, I encourage you to visit each school and find a parent to tell you both the positives and negatives of each school. From my perspective and in this school setting, there are only the little things that I would change- remembering that not everything in life is perfect. But for me and my family, this school gets pretty close. Read less

... Read more belt, my son, who graduated, entered into Quartz Hill High School's IB program, as did most of the kids from his class that went on to Quartz Hill High. Discipline is handled in a positive Christian way. Many family activities throughout the year. School is like an extended family. Class sizes are small and, in addition to the basics, include: Religion, Computers, Spanish, Art, Music or Band, singing & plays & sports. You can apply for tuition assisstance if you need it. I can't say enough good things about the school and teachers at GLS. The teachers are dedicated and love their job. My daughter loves going to school and the curriculum is challenging. We are baptist but have had no difficulty with the faith based teachings at the school. Our daughter is receiving an

This school has been a blessing in the life of my daughter. Before she attented Grace Lutheran, she hated school. She wasn't confident, she was bringing home C's and D's, always beginning me to stay home and crying. It used to break my heart. Thanks to the principal and the second grade teacher they

We are Catholic but the great people here do not great us any different. We moved to Lancaster in 2005 just in time for our daughter to start kindergarten. Our search for a school started on the internet and was narrowed down to three schools which we toured. Grace Lutheran was the only school that combined a challenging curriculum with a close-knit family atmosphere.
... Read more Many local private schools have high teacher turnover rates because they leave for higher paying jobs once they have their experience. Most of Grace's teachers have been there for many years and are extremely dedicated. We feel as if we have unlimited access and interaction with the teachers. Our daughter is now in fourth grade. GLS has helped us turn her into an incredibly articulate young lady who loves to read and excels in all subjects. Read less

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
