Someone else mentioned that teachers visit extracurricular activities and they do! The principal is strict about discipline, but the children all respond well to her and rise to the challenge. The sports program is awesome and there are perks that are constantly cut from the public schools, like library time, technology labs, and the Accelerated Reader program. The kids at the school aren't perfect, but compared to their peers elsewhere, they look pretty darn good! We highly recommend OLPH. Read less

We are in our 4th year at OLPH school. We are very happy with the community. My son had attended another Catholic school prior- at OLPH he had an amazing experience with the first teacher that believed in him. He is now doing extremely well in high school. They just need the basics in morality and respect.

My child is in 2nd Grade at OLPH. Last year, he attended the Boulder Oaks Elementary school in the Alpine Union district. His experience in the CA public school system was horrific!! The entire educational program is geared towards taking the STARS tests. He was becoming a test robot, not a well
... Read more rounded person involved in his community. Not only did he hate the whole learning experience, but the bullying and foul language he experienced on the playground was intolerable. I sought out a refuge. A learning experience which emphasizes the development of the whole person, not just learning geared to the answers on a test. We have truly found this at OLPH school. He absolutely loves going to school. All of the educators, parents and children care about each other and the school. His reading and math grades have improved unbelievably. We LOVE OLPH! Read less

I relocated to East County several years ago not knowing anything about San Diego County, in general. ... Read more in a private school didn't even cross my mind or even an option until I found OLPH. Hearing position feedbacks from people within my community, meeting OLPH families and seeing these parents wholeheartedly working with one another through volunteer work just to make their children's lives safe and secure were the deciding factors to attend this small close-knitted school. We now have been here for four years and I see how my children are happy at school. The entire faculty staff do care about the students - a real strong relationship! Read less

I can't say enough good things about this school. I have two children enrolled - one in middle school and one in elementary. The teacher's at this school are exceptional and truly care about the kids as a whole. It is not uncommon to see a teacher at a child's soccer or baseball game on the weekend.
... Read more The fact that they care about the child outside of the classroom and use their own private time to show that, has created a very strong bond with the kids. I appreciate the fact that the kids are all held accountable for their actions and are required to be responsible citizens while still maintaining a warm, caring environment. The test scores each year speak for themselves as they are consistently very high. These kids thrive in this environment. I can't imagine sending my children anywhere else. Read less

Although we are not Catholic, we cannot imagine sending our child to any other private school. OLPH teachers really care about the children and put their whole heart into educating the children. I am amazed at the community outreach that this school has. We feel this school should have 10 stars!!

We love OLPH! It was a difficult decision to make to send our children there. We are a single-income family and it is a financial sacrifice to be able to afford the tuition, but now that we've experienced OLPH, I can't imagine sending our kids anywhere else! It really is one big family and the education

My daughter is a Kindergartner OLPH and loves the school, her friends, teachers and staff as much as we do! Though this is only her first year as a student, we have grown to love the environment and the teachings in the school. The kids are taught respect, responsibility and a Christian way of life.

We are impressed with what our daughter has already learned in Kindergarten as it compares closely to what a friend of hers is learning at a nearby public school in the first grade! OLPH is a wonderful school. It has inspired my kids to have a desire to learn. I have a 4th grader that loves to read. I am sure it has to do with the AR program. My boys love their teachers who wonderful in so many ways. Their friends are great kids too. I am lucky to see their friends after school

Advanced Placement
