... Read more days a week-- like his Monday/Wednesday is math and his Tuesday/Thursday is science and LA. His test scores have actually improved a lot (Advanced, now), and the kids that he is hanging around are a lot better. The classes at the LC are a lot smaller (like 15 kids for High School...crazy!) So, the get more attention from their teachers. Anyway, I have been happy. They have a lot of resources, and a helpful staff. Read less

My child attends The Innovation Centre which is under Julian Charter Schools. We are very happy with the schools performance. The Director, staff and all of the teachers are very committed and passionate about education and it shows in the children. They focus on ILPs. My child attends school 4 full

Julian Charter School offers an excellent alternative form of education to traditional public schooling. They have an incredible choice of cirriculum available and every resource imaginable - all for free!!! I am so impressed with what they have to offer parents and children who don't fit into the 'mold.'

Read more Not only do they offer parents a choice to homeschool their children using their own choice of cirrculum, but they also offer chidlren an opportunity to take an individual class, like science or math once a week, or take part in the academy twice a week where they can take all their classes!! The LP's the teacher had given us did not teach my daughter everything that needed to be learned in this years time frame and so I will be continuing it thru the summer. ... Read more be tested since her reading was below level, at the begining of the year. It was not till we had 1.5 months left of school did they decided, ' Oh we should do that'. When I spoke to someone in administration about that they said it can take two years for that request to go thru!! Are you kidding me? That does not follow my rights as noted on the Board of Education website. It was going to be a fight to get my daughter the help that she needed. Not returning next year. Read less

... Read more population profile has gradually shifted from a more traditional homeschooled student to include more at-risk students. This is apparent at testing sites, onsite classes and field trips. The administration can be impersonal and bureaucratic, and obviously has concerns that compete with parent choice, despite slogans to the contrary. However, there are many dedicated employees/teachers in the learning centers and in the field (they may be gone tomorrow). This school is not a bad choice if you are determined to avoid the trappings of the mega-schools and you want to get the (educational) job done. Read less

Meet with teacher every 20 days, we had very supportive teachers every year. Really helped individualize the learning, do have to do testing, and if want college prep credit, do have to use high school recommended books, daughter loved taking learning center classes and additional vendor classes. ... Read more we had heard many rumors that using a charter was a poor choice. In every instance these concerns were unfounded. We enrolled in Julian Charter about 4 years ago and have been totally pleased! First, the 'lovely curriculum' is paid for, including art supplies, lessons & classes if we desire. Secondly, my 'Christian' facilitator has assisted me whenever I've needed it without being invasive. 'All' the paperwork is taken care of and am assured that my children's Transcripts are top notch whether they are called to be a Mother, Pastor or Brain Surgeon. This Charter is Splendid! Read less
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
