This school is one of the most unsafe schools in Hercules. There are fights all the time, class rooms are over crowded and summer school is even worst. If you want your child to get a good education send them to a private school or to another school district.

... Read more about being in line for 4 1/2 hours during registration, it was a complete chaos. I felt that there was no regard to working parents whose time has to be wasted that way. Registration for returning students could have been done via mail or online to avoid the big crowd at registration. Some students were reserving spots in the line for others, which was disrespectful to others who have stood in line for more than 3 hours. Then another line once inside for yet another hour. Being the parent of a 6th grader who has moved from the much coveted Lamorinda school district, both my daughter and I found this school to be a breath of fresh air, with dedicated teachers who are more approachable and non discriminative. If they have advanced classes for students who want to be advanced students and put the regular students in regular classes, scores should be improving in the coming years. Next thing to check is the residence of students - some move out right after registering in the school, just for enrollment sake. This school district should implement what they do in the 'coveted' ones, do random checks on addresses at times. Read less

this is my first year at hmhs it has been ok but in my non ap class kids are always talking and i could never here. mr. zak, mr. richardson, and mr. crosley give good discipline but teachers are unorganized. but the fight rate as gone down. but the school is ok.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
