Troy is overrated. Sure, they have good test scores and such, but that is more attributed to the motivation of the students, rather than the 'excellence' of the staff. If anything, the parents of the kids should receive the accreditation for the school's excellence, not the school itself. It's parents
... Read more that care about the students, the administration just wants to milk us for our results to better their reputations. Parents are the reason most of us became aware of this school, as should be because they care enough about us to send us to a 'good' school. The administration only cares about the 'amazing' kids, or the 1% of kids who actually see much success in this school. It's pandering to a disgusting point. So you see, I've learned something at this school: The greatest reputations are just that: reputations. True greatness is created by the students. Don't come here. Read less

They have a very disorganized school structure and emails and phone calls to administrators are always ignored.

I am a proud Troy parent. I have 4 kids, Two have graudated, one is currently in, and one will enter in September. Yes staff are not so easy to talk to. Nevertheless Troy is a great school. Kids in general stay up many nights a week either by staying out, listening to the music, talking on the phone,

Troy prepares kids for college without parents having to send their kids to after school program. Believe me, they still manage to have social life. My kids play instruments and do other activities. They just can't spend all their time in the shopping malls. They have to learn to manage their time. Troy is tough but life is tough! Read less

My son is now a senior at Troy. He was admitted into the Troy Tech/IB program after being a straight A student at his private elementary school. My son is also an athlete unlike the majority of IB students. He was very unhappy with the amount of time it took to complete his homework his first year

He loved the challenge of the AP courses but he could never achieve much higher than a C+ so a few times he traded the AP for a regular class. He is no longer in the IB program and I am pleased with his accomplishments. His SAT score is over 2100 and Troy has given him the discipline and confidence to take on whatever his higher education will require. Read less

I had two daughters attend Troy. One was straight A's and the other a B-C student. My B-C student is actally well balanced and happier. My other daughter felt so much stress and competition from all the other students in her honors/TT classes that she literally couldn't decide where to go to college,

The kids there seem to already know where they are going to college and what exactly they want to be (ex: dentist, doctor, engineer...etc). I don't know if this is a cultural thing since most of the kids come from an Asian backgroud. However, my daughter wasn't so settled on her future and the pressure to 'know' what to do with your future really freaked her out. She didn't want to 'pick' her career like the others for fear it would be wrong. Read less

Very good for sports and extracurriculars. Academics are also spectacular at this school. A warning though, the IB program is extremely challenging and is only for hard-working and truly motivated people.

We've had two children graduate from Troy. Our daughter was all-world and still is. She did IB, took a ton of advanced AP courses and as she never received a grade less than 'A' she was catered to, given tons of honors and put in that 'special' category. Our son however, barely made Troy Tech and went

Troy basically had no use for him and chose to pass him by no matter how hard we & he tried to get their attention. The moral of this story is that a student should only go to Troy if they have no learning disabilities because the administration has no time for those who do-they are punitive. Read less
