Clean, energetic environment! Lots of resources and involved teachers. Unfortunately, foreign lagnuage selection has decreased due to funding. Love the Block Scheduling - for BOTH my 'academic' focused student and my not so 'academic' student. Great Career Center

This is an excellent school in all regards. My son is a good student, and I was worried that he would 'burn out' as some good students do, in a hard-driving 'highly competitive' school. My only criticism: no orchestra program, no string ensemble - but this part of California seems only to have school bands - marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands, little or nothing in high school for classical music (with some rare exceptions) - too bad. My son studied violin for many years but now has no orchestra or group to play with. Read less

My daughter transferred to Union Mine froma private school. We were concerned about the transition and her reaction to a the culture. It has been fantastic. She is having a great time, her grades are excellent and her teachers are both supprtive and tough. She gets mad at me if I am late getting out

My son graduated from Union Mine in 2005. I am so very grateful that he attended this school. The faculty was incredible. They cared about the students and their education to the extreme. The campus is beautiful. Everything was up to date and current as far as textbooks and equipment making teaching

I have been to four high schools due to my parents moving. I went to Folsom, Sacramento, San Juan, and UM. UM has friendly staff and teachers. UM is in El Dorado/Placerville. Most of the students at UM act differently than students from the city. UM is primarily white, I would say 95% white. Most
... Read more students are sheltered @ UM. The students do not get into many fights, deal with drugs, or skip school like my other schools. UM is strict on sttendance. The music department is great. UM provides many AP classes and advance classes. Since UM is in Placeville, the school is very much isolated. There are not many places where students can go near UM for fun. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
