A few of the teachers are excellent. Alan Hallback is an outstanding band instructor. However, most of the others teach only to the State testing mandates. They even go so far as to test the students on how well they fill in the circles on the tests! The administration mindlessly adheres to 'policy'
... Read more without considering individual students' needs. They promote monthly 'virtues' without expecting the students to show these virtues or even understand what they are. This school is riding on the laurels of their community. The school is lucky to be located in a community that values education. There are all sorts of tutorial centers available where a large percentage of students go to learn. The teachers cover information and if the students don't learn then that

They assign a lot of busy work, but it lacks rigor and relevance. The administrators float around on artifical flying carpets as if they are actually responsible for student achievement. Carmenita Middle School is a very nice learning place, with disciplinary teachers, counselors, and staff. I go to this school, and its a very nice place to learn. All staff keeps their promise of not breaking any rules for anyone. Though, this school has some flaws. Most teachers don't give out any rubrics

When teachers don't communicate with each other about homework, students are given so much homework it's ridiculous. My daughter has stayed up many nights until midnight. How is learning taking place, I thought homework is supposed to be a review of what the student learned in class not a lesson that

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
