... Read more higher grade levels). As it is, most kids are lacking in math/science skills and if there is no incentive at an early age, they may have difficulties in middle school. A new principal is coming in next year (Mr. Wise is retiring) so hopefully this will not be overlooked. I don't think it would hurt to make the kids think that math/science is cool. Read less
I have to agree with the majority of the reviews. I think this school is the best. The principal, Fred Wise, seems to know just about every student by name. Yah there may be 31 kids in the kindergarden class but the also have 2 teachers plus an aide. Can't forget about all the parent volunteers ,
... Read more at least 5 per day. So I think the kindergardeners have it the best. My chid was actually suposed to go to SEH Elementary. Our neighborhood was 'redistricted/rezones' so now we go to Carrillo. I think that Carrillo is such a better school. It shows in all that the teachers and PTO do. Read less

Principal Fred Wise is an engaged and talented administrator who has gathered a talented stable of teachers. An active PTO helps to soften a contant barrage of budget cuts.

Wonderful school, thanks to one of the best educators Ive ever met: Principal Fred Wise. He is amazing--knows all the kids and their parents and motivates the teachers to do their best. Most teachers are great as well. Class sizes after 2nd grade are too big, but this is typical for San Marcos district.

The principal is awesome and he is everywhere, teachers are very well prepared and most importantly they are happy teachers, you can tell they love the environment because they put all their effort on teaching the best that they can all the children equally, my kids really love going everyday to this

The school is great! My child loves it at this school. The teachers are great. Although, when it comes to the children, and what is in their best interest. The school does a poor job. The politics really show at this school, and I do not agree with that at all. ALl children are not treated equally.

Wow what a school. High parent involvement. The teachers are incredible. They care beyond what normal teachers due. They put in so much time and effort. The PTO brings in more funds to make the school such a success. The Principal Fred Wise goes above and beyond. He actually gets to know all 800 kids

The security at this school is very poor. They are more interested in flag salutes (to recognize athletics) than they were on acedemics. 1st graders didnt even have the right resources to learn.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
