BCE is a great school. I have nothing but great things to say about the principal, teachers and staff. The reading specialists are exceptional. How many elementary schools have science, PE and music specialists? My kids ride the bus so I don't worry about the parking.

Excellent elementary school. Recent changes include moving the 6th grade to the middle school as well as a brand new classroom building (replaced portables). There is certainly no overcrowding in this school and the facilities are very good. The most recent academic scores rank BCE as one of

Parking is not great, but I have no problem dropping off and picking up my two kids. So far, and most importantly, I have had nothing but great teachers for my children. Older unfavorable reviews reflect disgruntled parents who were upset over the closure of the other elementary school in Boulder Creek (Redwood). That battle is over and we have moved on. Read less

Both of my children, 8 years apart, went all the way through school here. The programs were excellent - sports was a bonus, and the teaching was responsive to a diverse group of students. While this school is in a beautiful, rural environment, the facilities are largely portable (40%) and permanent facilities are aging (as much as 80 + years old). It sits in a neighborhood with poor traffic patterns, causing ongoing traffic and safety issues. There is no on-site parking available for

This year, the school nearly doubled in the number of students, which is likely to cause a further decline in educational quality and test scores. While this school has the potential to be a good educational facility, it is not as it currently stands. It needs to be half the size, with upgraded facilities, better traffic flow/parking, more expectations and less rules, and a better vision. Management in the district (starting with the current school board on down) doesn't understand what creates a positive educational environment. Read less

Out of the 4 Elementary School in the district, BCE Ranked second to last in academic achievement scores. The API scores show the true value of the teaching environment. BCE is situated on a well-documented geological fault but the school does not pass any of the state current building code pertaining to earthquake safety. The closure of Redwood Elementary School the highest academically rate school in the district has caused the BCE Campus to be badly overcrowded. This situation was implemented by the local school board without an environmental impact study for the safety of the attendees. With all this in mind, I as a parent concerned with the safety and education of my children's future and given the current options felt to me by the local school board I would in no way recommend BCE as a school for my children.
