Read more the school through a tough budget environment to win a National Blue Ribbon award, celebrating each member of the school community's achievements and participating in every event we've attended as parents (even sparsely attended 'better parenting classes'). Teachers are great with a few exceptions, like any other school. Principal is 'so-so.' The PTA is wonderful. So overall it is an average school.

Responding to the parent comment about don't believe the hype. Everyone thinks their kids are the smartest on the planet. It is arrogant to think yours are something academically special. This school is top notch and if the teachers know your kids to be average then believe them and get over yourself.

Our family transfered to Central. We have truly found a home! When I asked my 2 boys if they liked their school, my 2nd grader told me he wanted to go to Central forever! My boys have been nurtured as well as challenged. The parent involvement is unbelievable. It is so cool to be able to see our
... Read more kids grow and learn and the Central staff wants us as parents to be a part of that. I am always amazed to see the principle knows every child by name! My boys are both testing at the advanced level! The other factor in the Central scene is the community spirit taught to the kids. They are taught to respect one another as well as themselves. I am proud to say that both of my children attend this remarkable school. The principle, teachers, and staff are all nurturing and caring-modeling the expectation of their students and parents. The parents at Central are hardworking and caring with the constant force to making our school a great place

When we moved to Belmont four years ago, we told our agent that we were only interested in Peninsula neighborhoods with outstanding schools - a top-notch public school was (and continues to be) our number one priority. While we knew Central had high test scores, we did not realize how outstanding it
... Read more was on every level - from the principal, to the teachers to the enriched curriculum and dedicated parent community. Central is providing our children with far more than a strong academic foundation - the school is providing them with a stimulating, safe, healthy and warm community to learn and grow in. Read less

Central has been our school for five years. I have one child who is above grade level and one who now is at grade level but needed additional help for three years to get to this point (mostly in reading). With both children, I have witnessed teachers working to challenge each child s strengths and

With my child who had learning difficulties, we were provided feedback regularly and he was assisted through the many wonderful specialists that are on site. The parent community is wonderfully supportive and very involved. The parents are active not only at this school site but are the leaders for much of the district (via School-Force, the education foundation). AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
