The staff and faculty always demonstrate their commitment to the students, and have created innovative programs to help students at all levels reach their educational potential. This is a great all around highschool. The campus is great. It is located just outside of LA County, close enough to be part of LA, but far enough away to avoid the bad schools of LAUSD. The teachers are great. They not only teach the students the course material, but help the students mature as overall

The Cheer team has won nationals for the past 8 years, the Boys and Girls waterpolo teams have consistently done very well with the Boys just coming off a State Championship. The other athletic teams all are very competitive and consistently place very high in league (Marmonte League). The photo department has won numerous awards, both locally and state wide. The Music department is fabulous and consistently places very high in national competitions. ANd the school has lots of spirit with its local rivalries. Read less

Although it is true that many teachers may not be the best, it is completely false to say that the school does not allow you to take any courses after Algebra II. ... Read more year. The school DOES address all students. Honestly, it depends on the student NOT the teacher. Yes the teacher helps you learn but it depends on the student if he or she wishes to learn anything. I have taken one AP class but I am not an AP/honors student. However, I am doing very well and I feel that I am being challenged. Maybe not as challenged as other schools but quite challenged. Read less

Agoura High caters more to the high achievers and the average student is left behind. The extracurricular activities and sports programs for the most part are very good. A number of the teachers should have retired long ago and there is little support for those students who are struggling. Have 3 children

My children transfered out of Agoura High School last year. My children said last year that it was a terrible experience. The teachers bored them and they weren't interested in any of there classes. They also dropped there grades down. At Lindero Canyon Middle School they had fantastic academics. My

I have sent three children to this school, and the first two transferred in their sophomore and junior years. They had problems socially and emotionally, and the school would not address them. WIth my third I was hopeful. He was a GATE student, successful by every measure in middle school, very popular.

He became bored with the classes offered, started asking to homeschool, dropped AP classes and spends all his time on activities, not academics. The counselors have talked to him, but not to me, just as they did with the first two. After a wonderful experience at Lindero Canyon Middle School, I have to think Agoura HS is just not up to the same high standards. Read less

There are teachers who are past their prime-they are angry, rude, and should no longer be teaching. However, this yr there are some young, energetic new teachers. Parents clearly need to be sure that their teenagers get everything in writing--because without it, no one will assist you!

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
